New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 Makeup Trends

It's that time of year again....New York Fashion Week! You know Fall has arrived when the tents are up, the celebs are out, and the runways are in full swing.

This season's runways brought some great makeup trends for Spring 2014. We saw a lot of bright, bold matte colors on the lips, including tomato oranges and berries (no gloss in sight!) and an emphasis on natural minimalist skin. Many looks had little to no makeup on the eyes. If anything, a bronze colored shadow was used around the eyes for a bit of definition as well as fuller, brushed up brows. However, we did also see some edgier, fun looks using pops of color on the eyes, either as a winged liner or intense shadow.

Some of my favorite looks included Nicole Miller, designed by James Kaliardos for MAC Cosmetics, Rachel Zoe, designed by Charlotte Tilbury for Maybelline, and Pamella Roland, designed by Laura Mercier artist Matin Maulawizada.

For the Nicole Miller show, Kaliardos was inspired by Marie Antoinette, using soft colors of "French confection" in the 1800s such as mauve and gray on the eyes. The deep magenta lip gives a gorgeous pop to the look using MAC lip pencil in Vino and MAC lipstick in Violetta.
At Rachel Zoe, Charlotte Tilbury, using Maybelline, created a golden, sun-kissed look with a pretty pink lip made by mixing three different colors together and lightly patting it on with her fingers. At Pamella Roland, Matin Maulawizada for Laura Mercier was inspired by French film stars from the sixties when creating the look consisting of sexy, smudgy eyes and light pink lips - very Brigitte Bardot!

As usual, Fashion Week leaves me feeling inspired and ready to start a new season, and some fresh new looks!

What were some of your favorite makeup looks from this week?

Celebrity Sunday Fashion Week Spotlight - Heidi Klum!

Happy Sunday everyone!

This week's Celebrity Sunday makeup look goes to Heidi Klum, who looked absolutely stunning at Friday's Project Runway Spring 2014 show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I actually was working in the tents on Friday and saw her pass me in her show-stopping gold-metallic Max Azria Atelier gown. I caught a quick glimpse of her makeup, but really was able to appreciate the look when I saw the photos the next day. She looks even more stunning in person.

Her makeup was glowing and radiant while still looking really clean and fresh. A bronze-metallic shadow was used on the outer half of the lid, as well as below the lower lash line to accentuate the eyes (a similar type of color would be MAC Woodwinked). A shimmery champagne colored shadow was used in the inner corners going up towards the lid to highlight and open up the eyes, giving a more wide-eyed look. A white liner was also used in her waterline, a great way to brighten the eyes and make them look larger. The look is finished off with rosy peach flush to the cheeks reminiscent of MAC's Melba blush, and a nude glossy lip.

This is not only a great evening look, but works beautifully for daytime as well! Try it out for yourself ;)

Stay tuned this week for some of my favorite designer makeup looks straight from the runway!

1ST OFFICIAL CELEBRITY SUNDAY!

Hi my beauties and welcome back! Happy September!

Sorry it's been a while, but it's certainly been quite a busy summer! Definitely sad to see it go but very excited for all the things to come this Fall! I just love September. It's that time of year when summer slowly comes to an end, a certain crispness appears in the air, fashion week is upon us, boots and sweaters slowly start to make their way out, and the excitement of a new season is in full swing! It almost feels like a fresh new start (maybe it's that "back to school" mentality permanently etched in my brain). I also love the start of Fall for its amazing bridal season (shout outs to my fellow Autumn brides!).  :)

Being the first of September, I wanted to officially start off my new series of "Celebrity Sundays". Every Sunday I'll be highlighting a different celebrity makeup look, whether it's a celebrity bride or just a fun look in general.

I wanted to start out with a very highly requested makeup look that I get from brides quite often, which is the official "kim kardashion wedding" makeup. Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic created the look for Kim's wedding, inspiring looks for brides all over the world. Soft and sophisticated, yet classic and elegant, it's a stunning wedding day look. Kim's skin is flawless and perfectly contoured as always, yet instead of a heavy smokey eye, she had soft golden/bronze shades on her lids with a winged out liner on the top lid only. The eyes were played up by her gorgeous fluttery lashes (she used Lancôme Hypnose Doll Lashes that day). On my brides doing this look, I would definitely use some individual lash extensions for the same effect. Lips were done in a sheer peachy color, a beautiful choice for all skin tones.

Stay tuned for more celebrity makeup looks every Sunday!
Happy Labor Day Weekend!! ;)
